FishSTIK

Scombrotoxic fish poisoning is the most common disease caused by marine toxins. It is characterised by elevated histamine levels in seafood products, caused by bacterial spoilage. There is an unmet need in the fishing industry for an accurate and inexpensive test for toxic histamine levels in fish. We propose a novel dip-stick method based on anti-histamine antibodies for scombrotoxin testing. Our product will be aimed at industrial applications but will not require laboratory resources. It will be cheaper, quicker and easier to use than currently available tests.
