Since 1999, CUE has had over 450 entries and has awarded over £280,000 in grants to 31 business ideas. These companies have raised more than £8m further funding and are currently valued at more than £22m. Our competitions help you create global companies.

The Grand Launch celebrates the launch of the business planning and creation competitions. Take this opportunity to learn more about the competitions, network with potential team members and discover new business ideas!

In addition to the CUE Business Creation Competition and the 3P Business Creation Competition, this year marks the return of the popular £1K Business Idea Competition. These competitions are open to both staff and students of the University.

CUE Winners Run The Gauntlet

Two previous winners of CUE's CUEBiC competition, Margo Technologies (2006 winner), a wireless audio high technology and OEM based company founded by Han Lin, Fatima Wang and Kewei Huang, and Optisynx, have made the shortlist for the East of England Development Agency's (EEDA) Running the Gauntlet competition.

The competition is led by EEDA in partnership with CREATE and Library House and is widely seen as an online 'grooming' programme for companies looking for cash. The competition offers a £1m investment fund prize from CREATE as well as £250,000 worth of advice and in-kind business services from sponsors Bailey Fisher Executive Search, Grant Thornton, HSBC, Mudhut Communications, Scientific Generics, Taylor Vinters and The Commercialisation Company.

American Genetic Services Inc. secures seed funding

A student company, American Genetic Services Inc., has just secured $50,000 in funding to research the viability of a chain of preventive genetic services clinics in the US market. AGS will be the first to access physician referrals and insurer funding for genetic counseling services. Led by Abraham Prabhakar of Churchill College, a Masters candidate at the Judge Business School, AGS looks set to become the first global player in the emerging genetic services market after competing in one of the world’s most prestigious business plan competitions, the Coventry University Entrepreneurs Business Creation Competition (CUEBiC).
