A Social Innovation Camp - Apply by 7 March

4-6th April 2008
Bethnal Green, London

What happens when you get a bunch of social innovators and software developers together, give them a set of social problems and only 48 hours to solve them? We’re going to find out.

In London on the weekend of 4th-6th April 2008, Social Innovation Camp will bring together some of the best of the UK and Europe’s web developers and designers with people at the sharp end of social problems. Our aim is find ways that easy-to-build web 2.0 tools can be used to develop solutions to social challenges.

How you can join in.Too many ideas never meet the right people. They get left behind over lunch, in the pub, or forgotten amongst other demands of work and life. At the Social Innovation Camp, we want to give your idea a home. We think the potential for the web to create social change holds some really exciting opportunities for social businesses. There are some great examples already out there: Freecycle for your recycling, School of Everything to learn stuff and Fixmystreet for improving your local neighbourhood.

The Social Innovation Camp weekend is going to be a space to meet people who want to work with you to turn your idea into a viable venture – be that a non-profit, a commercial business or something else altogether. They’ll be opportunities to meet social entrepreneurs, as well as software developers and sponsors to get your idea off the ground. You can enter your idea through our website at www.sicamp.org.

Sound interesting? You’ve got until 7th March 2008 to send your idea. Visit www.sicamp.org, join the facebook group and get in touch:
